‘Uzhhorod City Children’s Hospital has received today as a gift the modern high-precision microscope for laboratory tests from the representatives of the Zakarpattia Priory, Sovereign Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta. Uzhhorod City Council Secretary Adriana Sushko and Deputy Olesia Afanasieva joined the celebrations. Head Physician Igor Roshko said that cooperation with these philanthropists was made more than a year ago and they have been always interested in detailing exactly what kind of equipment, what kind of help are needed for the medical care facility. The Purchase of the microscope was very necessary, because, as Ihor Roshko stated, reliable test results are extremely important to determine the correct diagnosis, for effective treatment order and for intermediate control of how the recuperation of young patients is going. In the children’s hospital laboratory, there are instruments with plastic optics that are not of very high quality and the microscope donated today has the most respected in the world ZEISS optical system.

Prior to Zakarpattia Ivan Shufrych has mentioned today on long-term cooperation and partnership of the Maltese Order with medical institutions of Uzhhorod at the time of donating the equipment. It is to be recalled that last year children’s hospital has transferred magnetotherapies, electrocardiographs, and accumulator batteries for Uninterruptible Power Supply APC Smart (for medical equipment protection). In previous years, this hospital was provided with humanitarian assistance of 90 thousand UAH, and once more it was taken care of the purchase of special syrups that are used for influenza prevention’. Local newspapers also reported on this event. The microscope was purchased at the request of children’s hospital administration (we have their letter of request), as well as all the financial documents.

The cost of the microscope was 57 000 hryvnias, which is about US$ 2100. We hope that it will serve a long time for the young patients of the Zakarpattia region. We will gladly discuss with Brother Francis the receipt of the grateful letter from the children’s hospital administration for the members of the Grand Priory of the Orient for the financing of this priceless gift. We have almost finished the preparation of an event for donating a variety of medical materials for Maidan Hospital (Shpytal’ Maidanu) and will send you a report. We will also hand over children’s clothing from the Grand Priory of Australia and various sweeties for the orphanage which hosts refugees from the East of Ukraine.

We are also pleased to inform you that the labels with the Order’s emblem were handed over according to our joint project ASAP Rescue 911. In the photo, you can see Order’s emblem, and on the right – Ukraine coat of arms and a sign “With the support of Sovereign Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem”. All labels were affixed on the windscreens of the ambulance cars, which take part in our joint project. We have also decided to affix labels on Ukrainian rescue service cars and on private cars of members of Ukrainian Priory. The labels were handed over to ASAP Rescue 911 Chief of staff Babkin Konstantin. The head of USR, Grand Commander of Order, General Pavlo Dyba, his assistant, Service Officer Evgen Kobyzskiy dressed in volunteer uniform and member of Ukrainian priority Aleksey Danish were also present.
