After asking the Grand Prior of Ukraine, Brother Valeriy what more than the money they needed for the orphanages he replied that they need children’s clothing, toys, books, pencils, and pa
per, etc.
The Sisters and Brothers got excited and really wanted to contribute to this important project.
We started the collection among our members, friends, and relatives and on Facebook. One of the newly recruited Serving Brothers, Branco Skarec was appointed Logistics and Transportation Officer since he is a board member in the Swedish Expedition Society and has traveled to and across Ukraine several times.
We also started to sell the unique coin with a certificate to our members and after a week we had sold 11 coins. We will bring the raised money, 1225 Euro to Ukraine too and let the orphanages buy the need for it.
Our plan is to go by a couple of cars (i.e. Land Rovers) or small trucks from Sweden, via Poland to Ukraine and deliver the collected items directly to the various orphanages together with our Brothers and Sisters in Ukraine. Brother Branco will pay for the transportation cost as a sponsor. What a member!
I got a call from a friend of a friend of a friend and
she asked if we were still collecting children’s items and if they could donate clothing and toys too and I said” of course” and then asked them where they lived and they replied that they live in a town called Örebro, not Stockholm as I thought (rumors travel fast and long). It’s 250 one-way km from Stockholm but when they said it was” some” clothing and” some” toys we went to them and you can see the result below. I and my son (the serving Brother with long hair) must go to them once more since they had more items to collect…
They, Jessica and Patrik, are now our newest members in St Ansgar and the first foundation for a new Commandery in Örebro.
