I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Brother Mikael and all the Brothers and Sisters, who took part in the project of raising the funds, clothes, and toys for orphanages in Ukraine. We simply do not h
ave words to express our admiration for the work of the initiators of the project! This is a huge work, which demanded from them their time, patience and devotion in the name of the ideals of our Solemn Order! As we planned earlier, we held a charity event. In Ukraine, like any other country in the world, there are many people with disabilities. Unfortunately, in our country, their number increases because of military operations in the East of Ukraine. Last year, together with the “Shpital of Maidan”, we aided the military rehabilitation center. In the Center ‘’ Ednist ‘’ there are 407 invalids of various degrees of disease. Of these, about 100 people do not get out of bed, they need diapers and just care.
There are 59 children in the center, 17 of them wheelchair disabled. Many of them are in difficult material and moral position. The state allocates funds for the maintenance of this social group of people, but this is extremely small. We decided to give them a little help. So, we bought diapers, food, rice, buckwheat, sugar, tea and sets of sweets for all children. They came to a meeting with us and came with their mothers. They were very pleased with our attention, we communicated with them warmly and distributed our gifts and products.
Today our knight Artem Konyakin took gifts to the orphanage of the city of Kramatorsk, which is 700km from Kiev. It is summer clothes for little children and sweets. As previously reported, together with Uzhhorod city administration, we presented medical equipment for the city children’s h
ospital. An electroencephalograph was purchased at the expense of the Uzhhorod city budget and with the financial assistance from the Grand Priory of Ukraine totaling 170 thousand hryvnias (5,500 euros).
On the 1st of February, with the participation of Uzhhorod city mayor Bohdan Andriiv, chief physician of the institution Ihor Roshko, medical workers, as well as representatives of the Zakarpattia Priory – Ivan Shufrych, Yevhen Doroshenko, Anatolii Sukholov, Petro Matsak and Yurii Sabodosh these devices were presented to the medical institution. The equipment allows carrying out encephalograms for children with suspected epilepsy and for patients having cramps. Even if there are no attacks, this method of examination will help to detect brain disorders pathologically concealed ones. It allows diagnosing the disease objectively. Patients who needed such an examination had to visit a specialized institution earlier, so it’s very nice that now the city’s children’s hospital has its own modern device that will allow children to be examined directly on the spot. And today this is an important and real contribution to the diagnostics of young patients in Uzhhorod city. This is not the first aid to the children’s city hospital from Zakarpattia Priory.
