Celebrating 450 Years of the Sacra Infermeria

The Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC), located in the historic Sacra Infermeria, is proudly marking the 450th anniversary of the founding of the Sacra Infermeria, established in 1574 by the Order of St. John. This historic hospital was one of the most advanced medical institutions of its era, renowned for its exceptional care of knights, soldiers, and civilians during the Order’s time in Malta.

Commemorative Coin Release

To honour this milestone, the MCC, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Malta, will release a limited-edition commemorative coin. Key details include:

  • Design: Featuring Blessed Gerard, the founder of the Order of St. John.
  • Limited Availability: Only 450 silver coins minted, each with a face value of 10 euros.
  • Price: Approx. 80 euros (plus postage and packaging).
  • Availability: Coins will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and can be purchased directly from the MCC.
