Dame Commander Rosemarie Stone, together with the Grand Prior of the United Kingdom, HE Chevalier Andy Stone, was honoured to present a donation on behalf of St George’s Priory to The Porch in Oxford. The gift of £500 in Tesco vouchers will support the provision of Christmas dinners for people experiencing homelessness and hardship across the city.
Last year, a similar donation helped fund Christmas Day and Boxing Day meals for 80 individuals, offering warmth, dignity and companionship at a time when it is needed most. Beyond the festive period, The Porch continues its vital work throughout the year, providing hot meals, safe daytime spaces, computer access, showers and laundry facilities, as well as practical support for those in need.
In addition, the Grand Prior has offered to donate a selection of books across a wide range of subjects to support The Porch’s growing library, helping to create a place not only of refuge, but of learning and personal growth.
