On Friday 27 February 2026, in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in the Inner City of Budapest, the Grand Priory of Hungary of the Sovereign Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta gathered in solemn remembrance of Prince Eszterházy Antal, who had been laid to rest in Fertőd in October.

The Requiem Mass was offered for the spiritual well being of the Prince, in a spirit of prayer, gratitude and fraternal unity. Members of the Order stood alongside family, friends and faithful supporters, united in thanksgiving for a life marked by dignity, tradition and service. His widow was present at the ceremony, her quiet strength reflecting the depth of devotion that characterised their shared life.

Within the ancient walls of the cathedral, the liturgy unfolded with reverence and grace. Candles flickered beneath vaulted ceilings as prayers rose for the repose of the Prince’s soul. The solemn beauty of the Mass served not only as an act of remembrance, but also as a reaffirmation of the Order’s enduring commitment to faith, charity and continuity across generations.

The Grand Priory of Hungary gives thanks for the life of Prince Eszterházy Antal, and commends him to the mercy of Almighty God. May he rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
