Hospitaller General

The work of the Hospitaller General involves having charge over all Hospitaller Services, particularly activities relating to assistance, care and support of those in need. The person chosen should possess considerable tact, discretion, patience and humour, courtesy and a sympathetic disposition.

The Hospitaller General is appointed by the Supreme Council and on appointment becomes a non-voting member of same.

The Hospitaller General shall encourage the appointment of an Hospitaller in all Grand Priories.

There are important responsibilities for each Hospitaller appointed, which include:

  • Keeping in touch with past and present members,
  • Making sure that their Grand Prior is informed of any illness or loss in the Grand Priory,
  • Make themselves known to all members of their Grand Priory offering support where needed,
  • Keep records of actions, and
  • Submit an annual report to the Hospitaller General of the previous year’s activities.

Each newly appointed Hospitaller will be provided with a complete list of guidance from the Hospitaller General on Notification by their Grand Prior of their appointment.
